The Story of J.D. Heiskell & Co. has never before been consolidated into a form like this one. Previous to the compilation of photographs and memories into this admittedly abridged account, the physical evidence of our one hundred twenty-five years has been decorating the walls of our offices, testing the capacity of a file cabinet in Dale and Pat Hillman's back room, and aging gracefully in a pair of binders containing past issues of The Express, our company newsletter published between 1992 and 2000. That publication featured a monthly column, Heiskell History Corner, from which much of the text in this volume was mined.
