Varied Impressions Art Exhibit 2023!!

The Tulare Historical Museum is scheduled to host its 19th Annual Tulare County Varied Impressions art exhibit, Jan. 12 - Feb. 18, 2023. This popular group exhibition features artwork by talented local artists which depict their "impressions" of the people and places of Tulare County. An artists’ reception will be held in the Heritage Art Gallery on Thurs., Jan. 12 from 5pm-7pm.
The artists’ Varied Impressions must represent what Tulare County means to their artistic eye and can be done in the medium of their choice. Subject matter such as landscapes, plant life, and local architecture are often used to communicate the artists’ love and curiosity for their hometown. The juried exhibit usually generates 35-40 selected entries, which are then thoughtfully curated and presented to the public.
Local artist, Peggy Woods, created the watercolor, Balch Park Road, which was selected to adorn the exhibition postcard. It’s a black and white piece that depicts a winding road with tall, lush trees on either side of it. The perspective she chose to use has an element of mystery as the viewer wonders what lies ahead after the road curves. This was inspired by the actual Balch Park Road, which winds its way throughout Springville, California.
After Ms. Woods retired from teaching at Porterville High School and Porterville College, she resumed her painting from previous years. She has shown in numerous galleries in the valley and was an active member of the Porterville Art Association for 12 years.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact us at info@tularehistoricalmuseum.org or 559-686-2074.
