Looking for Wilma Elizabeth McDaniel Books

The Late Poet Laureate of Tulare

The Tulare Historical Museum is looking for the following three books. We want to make full copies of the following three and return the originals to the owner:

 

  • Buttermilk Children, 1974
  • With This Crackerjack Ring, 1977
  • Paint Job, 1986

 

We are working on an illustrated bibliography and missing these three books. Any information will be greatly appreciated and very helpful.

MUSEUM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON OLD RURAL TULARE SCHOOLS

The Museum wants to create a display highlighting the rural schools, which are no longer in existence. We would like to know when they were built and when they were torn down. Officials also want to know about their first and last classes, and their principals, along with any other information. Schools we desire information on are:

  • Aurora School - Ave. 232 & Rd. 68
  • Bliss School - Rd. 140
  • Laurel School - Rd. 76
  • Linder School - Ave. 236 @ Rd. 48
  • Enterprise School - Enterprise Street
  • Surprise School - Near Rankin Field
  • Walnut Grove School - Ave. 228

QUILT TO BE RAFFLED OFF AT TASTE TREATS OCTOBER 26, 2009

Ann Hinman, who has won numerous "Best of Show" ribbons with her prize-winning quilts, has donated this lovely quilt to be raffled off at our Annual Taste Treats fund-raiser October 26, 2009. It is a 1930's reproduction fabric with sampler blocks and log cabin setting blocks. The quilt includes hand applique. It measures 82" X 106" and is a full or queen size.

Tickets are $2 each. The quilt is on display at the Tulare Historical Museum. Come by today to purchase your tickets.

New DVD Now Available in Tulare Historical Museum's Gift Shop ~ "Touching the Past" Born April 19, 1924, in a Hogan and reared under modest conditions on the Navajo Reservation in Indian Wells, Arizona, Joe Morris, Sr. shares his experience working as a Navajo Code Talker during World War II.
